<\/h2>\n<\/h2>\nThe Filati Technique<\/strong> was introduced and developed in the early 16th century by the Vatican School. Initially used to decorate small objects, today this technique is typically used for the production of fine jewelry.<\/p>\n The technique consists of creating micro-tiles (tesserae<\/em>) made by pulling molten glass under a gas flame at 900C\u00b0. For each pull, a very thin glass rod of a unique, never repeated color is obtained. The shape of the rod can be customized as the artist sees fit.<\/p>\n The wide choice of shapes and colors, makes the imagery incredibly realistic and detailed. In the Filati class, participants have the opportunity to craft two unique pieces of jewelry, such as a brooch, pendant, ring, or other similar items. The first piece serves as an introductory project, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the basic techniques and essential skills required in jewelry making. This initial project sets the foundation for more advanced work. The second piece is more complex, involving intricate designs and techniques. It is crafted on a base that not only supports the elaborate construction but also enhances both the aesthetic appeal and the quality of the final product.<\/p>\n Some of the topics <\/strong>covered: (for the full daily schedule, contact us<\/a>)<\/p>\n The projects to make are usually provided by the school, but student proposals are always welcome.<\/p>\n Most of the course is based on practical work. However, some theoretical insights will be discussed during the course.<\/p>\n We are happy to share our experience gained over the years, and to pass on our knowledge and tricks of the trade to our students.<\/p>\n This course is one of the very few in which it is taught how to make a micro mosaic both using pre-made<\/strong> AND self-made tiles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Also, the course explains how to make a key component: the Roman Putty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Another added value is the duration: only 5 days for such a large amount of content offered.<\/p>\n DURATION:<\/strong>\u00a05 days.
